Dobbepaarden at Marrum, a real work of art in the water!
This summer a photo artwork by visual artist Marcel van Luit was installed in the middle of the 'horsedobbe' at Marrum. The work is part of the walking route 'Dobbepaarden' - an initiative of Sense of Place, It Fryske Gea and Dorpsbelang Marrum - and tells the story of the one hundred and fifty horses that got trapped on the edge of the dobbe in 2006 after a heavy storm on the Noarderleech.
The artwork has been set up in the water and is visible from the edge of the dobbe. It is beautifully integrated into the landscape. The installation of the artwork was in hands of De Mannen van Staal. Other companies involved are the sponsors Wilcovak, Epson, ChromaLuxe and Neenah Coldenhove.
The image was infused into specially coated surfaces to provide the most durable, longest lasting print medium on the market today.
